We are thrilled to announce that Barocal has been selected for funding under the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator, securing a €2.45 million grant! This recognition places Barocal among the 71 cutting-edge companies chosen in the most competitive EIC Accelerator funding round to date.
Out of 1,211 submitted proposals, only 431 were invited to jury interviews, and Barocal emerged as one of the few companies awarded this prestigious funding. The EIC is providing up to €161 million in grants and €226 million in equity investments to help pioneering startups and SMEs bring breakthrough innovations to market.
A Step Forward in Sustainable Cooling
At Barocal, we are developing barocaloric cooling technology—a novel approach that eliminates harmful refrigerants while enhancing energy efficiency. This funding will accelerate our path to commercialization, helping us bring our environmentally friendly cooling solutions closer to industrial and commercial applications.
The grant will be instrumental in furthering our research, scaling up our technology, and strengthening our market position in the HVAC-R industry. Our mission is to provide a sustainable, energy-efficient alternative to conventional cooling systems, addressing both climate concerns and regulatory pressures on traditional refrigerants.
A Landmark Achievement in Innovation
The EIC Accelerator is a cornerstone of the Horizon Europe program, designed to support high-impact startups that demonstrate excellence, scalability, and significant market potential. This funding affirms the strength of our technology and business model, and we are honored to be among the top deep-tech innovators selected for this round.
We extend our gratitude to the European Innovation Council, EISMEA, and all our supporters who have contributed to this milestone. We also congratulate the other groundbreaking companies awarded funding—together, we are shaping the future of European innovation.
